of the Silicon Valley Innovation Society

After a busy summer, we bring our attention to the heart of what the Silicon Valley Innovation Institute is all about: Innovation Advocacy.

What is Innovation Advocacy? Some companies actually create a role called “Innovation Advocate,” usually for a senior manager. Generally, it is that person’s responsibility to manage or coordinate an innovation process, make sure innovation strategies are proceeding as planned, and address any resistance to innovation that may occur during the process; in other words, keep innovation on track.

However, Innovation Advocates can be one or more employees at any level, but they must be influencers in their workplace. Innovation Advocates are the curators of a creative culture in an organization. Ideally, initial innovation advocacy by at least one key influencer will encourage others to step forward as Innovation Advocates, regardless of their job titles or departments.

SVII staff will be presenting the case for Innovation Advocacy, discussing historical activities relating to it, and intended future Innovation Society treatment of this very important subject. A slot will be added to the regular programs (see below) to exchange Innovation Advocacy stories and strategies and offer support to participants to become stronger Innovation Advocates in their workplaces or other settings.

“The one truly unbounded renewable resource is human creativity, the master resource. When it is manifest as innovation, we all step forward together.”
—Howard Lieberman, CEO, SVII
